Are they related? Two different surveys show one third of Americans fear an Obama reelection and two thirds fear an economic collapse.

U.S. News reports on Synovate eNation Internet poll conducted December 29-January 2 that shows 33% of Americans fear four more years of Obama. Only 16% are afraid of Obama losing in 2012.

“in results backed up by other polls, older Americans and those earning $75,000 or more are especially worried about the president getting a second term, according to the poll done by Synovate eNation.

Nearly half of Americans 65 and older said Obama’s reelection was their top fear, 39 percent of those making $75,000 or more agreed.”

Seeming curiously connected another poll by Leflein Associates asked which three catastrophic events worried Americans most. Topping the list at 63% was an economic collapse. Coming in second was a natural disaster (46%) close to thired (44%) terrorist attack.

So two of the top three fears Americans have are responsibilities of their government. After three years of Obama’s policies it is telling that 63% picked an economic collapse as their greates fear. Not just a recession, not just low GDP, not just high unemployment but economic collapse.

And in a virtual tie for second place is terrorism. So much for Obama’s foreign policy efforts of hope and change.
