More Americans in favor of drill here, drill now

March 15, 2011 06:40

Gallup has determined that a majority of Americans favor offshore drilling and a plurality are for drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska (ANWR) with both findings showing increases over last year.

With gas expected to hit $5 a gallon this year even more Americans will realize we must develop our own energy resources.

The Gallup poll noted:

“Six in 10 Americans favor increasing offshore drilling for oil and gas in U.S. coastal areas, up from 50% in May 2010.”

and:

“The same poll shows 49% of Americans in favor of opening Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) for oil exploration. This is up slightly from 43% in the previous measurement in 2008, and is the highest level of support Gallup has recorded for drilling in ANWR since the question was first asked in 2002.”

Gallup also noted that more Americans are concerned about  “the availability and affordability of energy.” How about a poll that points out that the Obama administration is doing all it can to increase energy prices and decrease availability? What would Americans think about that?

All of this is being done without congressional approval. Obama is establishing his agenda by agency rules and regulations to bypass congress and the will of the people.

A recent Rasmussen report found that “The number of adults who expect gas prices to increase even more has reached its highest level since March of last year.  Eighty-seven percent (87%) say it is at least somewhat likely they will be paying more for gas in six months, including an overwhelming 75% who say it is Very Likely. Just seven percent (7%) do not expect to spend more for gas in six months’ time.

Seventy percent (70%) say it’s also at least somewhat likely that gas prices will rise above $4-a-gallon by July 1, with 40% who believe it is Very Likely.”

And yet 49% of the people approve of the job Obama is doing?? 29% strongly approve? There is a mental disconnect here. Obama and his allies in the press are doing a fantastic job alright but it is at fooling most of the people most of the time.

Dana Perino had it right when she said that the administration “allows Obama to say things that are so quickly proven false”. She pointed out Obama’s claim that his policies have increased oil production and he has not contributed to higher gas prices. “The facts are standing in the way of their rhetoric.”

During the 2008 campaign Obama warned us that his plan would ’skyrocket’ energy rates. Why are we surprised when it happens?
