Obama takes direction on spill from Soros funded think tank according to Wall Street Journal

The Center for American Progress (CAP) is a radical left wing group headed by John Podesta and funded in part by George Soros. They appear to be directing the Obama White house response to the gulf oil spill.

A Jonathan Weisman article in the Wall Street Journal points out that Obama’s major responses to the spill have followed suggestions by Podesta at the Center for American Progress (where self avowed communist Van Jones went after he left the White House staff)

Jonathan Weisman wrote:

“On May 4, for instance, the CAP’s energy and environment expert, Daniel Weiss, called on the president to name an independent commission to look at the causes of the Deepwater Horizon disaster. On May 22, he did just that.”

“On May 21, CAP president, John Podesta, privately implored White House officials to name someone to be the public point person for the spill response. A week later, the White House announced that Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen would hold daily briefings on the spill”

“On May 26, Weiss said the White House needed to demand that BP immediately set up an escrow account with billions of dollars from which claims for Gulf state residents would be paid out.”

It is simply amazing how interconnected the Obama administration is with radical left wing organizations like the Center for American Progress and George Soros.

Discover the Networks provides this insight into the Center for American Progress:

Other donors to CAP include the Rockefeller Family Fund; the Irving Harris Foundation, the Philip Murphy Foundation, the New York Community Trust, the Overbrook Foundation, the Peninsula Foundation, the Robert E. Rubin Foundation, the San Francisco Foundation, the Bauman Family Foundation, the Nathan Cummings Foundation, the Joyce Foundation, the Open Society Institute, and the Robert and Irene Schwartz Foundation.

After Barack Obama was elected President in 2008, CAP served as perhaps the most influential organization advising the new administration. Among Obama’s leading advisers were John Podesta and at least ten additional CAP experts.

Note that the Joyce Foundation which is a Center for American Progress funder is  tied in with Obama in the creation of the Chicago Climate Echange which included financial ties to Al Gore, Goldman Sachs and Obama advisor Franklin Raines who all stand to profit from passage of Obama’s ‘green’ energy agenda.

In another interesting twist,  Timothy P. Carney in The Washington Examiner points out that John Podesta‘s brother Tony is a lobbyist for BP.

Timothy P. Carney notes that:

“I do think it’s relevant, though, that the White House, CAP, and BP have many shared agenda items, and BP was working with Dems to draft a climate bill as recently as late April — after the Deepwater Horizon sank.

Now that the President is trying to use BP as a lever to advance climate legislation, it’s worth pointing out that one of the President’s advisor’s is the brother of a lobbyist for BP, who also supports Democratic climate legislation.

Also, lobbying is more about access than favors, I think. BP has some more access to the White House than you might have thought.”

What a small world … of corruption and deceit.
