HUD’s subsidies and failed oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac helped to inflate the housing bubble, which ultimately burst and cascaded into a major financial crisis.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development has become another government albatross that is rife with fraud, corruption and theft of taxpayer money despite its claim to aspire to seemingly noble goals.
