GOP holds the line against DISCLOSE Act

July 27, 2010 19:15

Finally one for the Gipper. A bill designed to aid incumbent Democrats and give unions an advantage in campaigning went down in a narrow vote today thanks to staunch Republican opposition. The Disclose Act was a reaction to the Supreme Court Citizens United Decision which had Obama chiding the Supreme Court Justices at the State of the Union speech.

The vote was 57-41 to end debate which takes 60 votes. Bills never seem to die in the senate though so don’t let your guard down. Three cheers to the GOP for taking a principled stand.
