Venezuelans Protest as Chavez Closes Another TV Station

January 26, 2010 15:26

Police and protesters have clashed in several Venezuelan cities after a TV channel opposed to President Hugo Chavez was taken off air.

One student was reported killed and several officers injured in the city of Merida amid fighting between pro- and anti-Chavez groups. This is the same dictator that Obama’s FCC appointee, Mark Lloyd praised for an “incredible democratic revolution.”

In suggestions eerily similar to Chavez’s takeover of media, Mark Lloyd has pushed for reinstatement of the “fairness” doctrine and called for crippling taxes on privately owned media to fund “diversity” in media.
